Me

Hi, I'm Riku! I’m originally from Fukuoka, Japan, but am now living and studying as a high school student in New York City. I'm curious by nature and always eager to understand the world around me, especially when it comes to topics like urban development, business, and the global economy. My experiences living abroad in Switzerland and now the U.S. have shaped my global perspective and inspired many of my interests. 

Outside the classroom, I have several hobbies and extracurriculars that I’m passionate about. I’m currently on the varsity baseball team, and have also played soccer, golf, and table tennis in the past. Teamwork is important to me, but I also value individual projects such as internships and volunteering. I’m interested in exploring the business of entertainment, and had the opportunity this year to serve as an intern for Tokyo Girls Collection, an event in Tokyo that combines fashion, performance, and idol culture. In developing my interest in urban development, I founded a club at my school called Metropolitan Minds, which aims to encourage and incite discussions about city planning and design among my peers. I’ve got big goals for the future and am excited to work with the people around me to achieve them as best I can.
