Where Strategy Meets Execution:
My Experience with EY
I had the opportunity to participate in a competitive experiential learning initiative that simulated real-world consulting challenges in collaboration with one of the Big Four firms, Ernst & Young (EY). As part of the program, I completed a case study on Rivian Automotive, Inc. and presented my strategic recommendations to EY professionals. The experience strengthened my analytical rigor, structured problem-solving abilities, and professional presentation skills within a high-performance environment.
About Rivian Automotive, Inc.
Rivian Automotive, Inc. is a U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer known for its adventure-driven brand and sustainability focus. Operating under a direct-to-consumer model similar to Tesla, the company produces electric trucks, SUVs, and commercial delivery vans. As a high-growth EV manufacturer, Rivian’s key challenge is scaling production profitably while increasing market share.
Building a Path to Profitability: A Strategic Roadmap to EV Leadership
For the final presentation to EY professionals, I developed a three-year strategic roadmap to help Rivian transition from a niche EV manufacturer to a profitable mass-market competitor. My recommendation focused on prioritizing the mid-market R2 platform, improving U.S. manufacturing utilization, strengthening cost efficiency through platform standardization, and reinforcing ESG differentiation. The proposal addressed Rivian’s cash flow constraints and scaling challenges while positioning the company for sustainable long-term growth.
Reflection
This experience meant a lot to me because it allowed me to apply classroom concepts, such as economies of scale, cost structure optimization, and strategic positioning, to a real-world business challenge.I especially enjoyed translating theoretical knowledge into practical recommendations and defending those ideas before industry professionals. The program strengthened my analytical thinking, communication skills, and confidence in solving complex problems.
